Palo Alto AWIS Mission

The Palo Alto chapter of the Association for Women in Science (Palo Alto AWIS) was founded in 1983 by Rivka Sherman-Gold to:
  • provide networking opportunities for women in science at all levels
  • foster career development and advancement for women in science
  • raise public awareness of the scientific and technological skills of women
  • work with other scientific, educational, and women's organizations in developing national and community programs that meet the above goals
  • provide recognition for women scientists in order to advance the above goals

National AWIS

AWIS, a non-profit national organization of women and men, was established in 1971 with the mission to achieve equity and full participation for women in a variety of scientific fields.
