Ice Cream Social & Networking Workshop

Why is networking important? According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 70% of all jobs are found through networking. By using networking strategies, you can uncover job opportunities that might not yet – or ever - be posted on job-sites, or develop an opportunity that did not previously exist.
Join us and learn how to develop effective networking strategies. Our speaker, Carla Vaccarezza will share with you how to develop a marketing plan, practice your elevator pitch, and other practical tips to help you advance your career and/or make a transition. You will have a chance to practice the newly acquired skills – so please bring your business cards.

AWIS T-shirts for Scholarships!
Proceeds from our chapter T-shirt sales help fund annual scholarships for local community college female students to study health and science. We plan to award 3 scholarships every
year, but our budget has only allowed us to give out 2 for the past two years. And, we think we can do better!
Teal shirts are $20 each. Our chapter logo has been revamped, and we hope that wearing it will get our group some good visibility and community support. Plus, they are pretty hip.
Volunteer Opportunity
Help inspire a girl in science! Volunteer as a role model for Techbridge, an afterschool program for girls in underserved communities that promotes interest and skills in science through hands-on activities, field trips, and role model visits.
Volunteer role models get involved by visiting a program or hosting a field trip. Techbridge provides training to help prepare you for your outreach.
